Resumé : 

Description of the subject. In tropical countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the failure of building envelopes to adapt to the local climate leads to excessive energy consumption, primarily due to air conditioning and lighting ; it also exacerbates the building’s environmental impact.

Objective. This study aims to analyze the building’s actual energy consumption, identify sources of inefficiency, and propose improvement measures tailored to the local climate.

Methods. The methodology adopted is based on a detailed energy audit that includes an analysis of consumption patterns, an assessment of the building envelope, a study of indoor comfort, and the identification of energy-intensive equipment.

Results. The results highlight several areas for optimization that could significantly reduce energy consumption while improving comfort levels.

Conclusion. Implementing the proposed improvement measures will reduce the building’s total energy consumption which currently stands at 364,386 kWh/year and amounts to 107,278,882 CDF (excluding VAT) by 23 %, and will also improve the building’s environmental performance.
